Hammer Maintenance & Safety
These are general maintenance tips and you should always refer to your Operational Manual for your specific model instructions. Read your operation &maintenance manual before operating or servicing the hammer Make walk around inspection at the beginning of each shift and check all hoses and connections. Also check hammer for any oil leaks or loose parts Hammer tool must be properly greased to prevent excessive wear of the tool and bushings every two hours of operations using proper grease. Always grease the hammer in vertical position with weight on the tool and use 5% moly base greas. This prevents the possibility of internal seals damage. Apply about 10-15 strokes with the hand gun for hammers with two greasing points and 15-20 with one greasing point Machines with auto lube system check that reservoir is full and functioning properly You will know that hammer is greased properly when amount of grease is visible on the tool, outside the bottom of the hammer following operation Every 50 hours you should remove the tool and inspect the tool and lower bushing. Check the groove in the lower bushing to make sure second groove is visible. If this is worn, the bushing can be rotated 90 degrees and reused. Hammer should be stored at the end of each shift in vertical position with the down-force on the tool. Relive all the pressure before removing the hammer from the machine.
